Realm Wars

Post by Hub Administrator on Thu May 28, 2015 9:17 am

For an infinite number of reasons to match an infinite number of realms, the assorted realms often seek to conquer and control or destroy other realms. However, to cross from most realms to another is almost impossible; at most, only a few individuals could be sent, and to do so would rend the fabric of both realms involved, possibly invoking disastrous consequences. However, there is one exception to this rule: the Universal Realm, hub of all realms. Thus, any realm seeking to invade another on a large scale would first have to control the Universal Realm. Because all realms have access to the Universal Realm, most attempts to attack would be doomed to fail at the hands of hundreds of other realms.

However, there have been wars between the realms beyond mere skirmishes on the fringes of the Universal Realm, and these conflicts are predictably called the Realm Wars.

The Reckoning

Post by Hub Administrator on Thu May 28, 2015 4:46 pm

One realm's name is unknown, even to those who dwell in it. However, it quickly was given a name by the other realms: the Realm of Evil. Although evil as a concept is very subjective, the nature of the most powerful beings to come from the Realm of Evil, especially its first Realm Master, known as the First Evil, has given little to doubt that it is deserving of its current title.

The First Evil created several "children", each representing a powerful evil, and the three most powerful would become known as the Grand Evils: Hate, Revenge, and Greed. Due to their natures, they all wanted to destroy their own father, and so all three formed an alliance and slew the First Evil. However, Greed's nature led her to more aggressively take over the Realm, becoming the second Realm Master while the position was still warm. She banished her kin to the Universal Realm and gave herself a new name: the Reckoning. Not content with control of her own realm, she sought to take over all realms, which meant first conquering the realm known as the Universal Realm...

Realm War One

Post by Hub Administrator on Thu May 28, 2015 11:01 pm

The first of the great conflicts known as the Realms Wars began soon after Hate and Revenge were cast from the Realm of Evil, losing their own physical forms in the process. Unable to act, they fled to the outermost fringes of the Universal Realm, where only those who were looking for them and had great luck could possibly locate them as they plotted to overthrow the Reckoning.

Meanwhile, the Reckoning began sending out forces to corrupt the denizens of the Universal Realm with greed, thus winning the war to take the realm without even starting it. However, the Realm of Balance was able to detect this, and it was made obvious that the Reckoning had to be stopped. Although most of the realms would be strong enough to hold back an invasion of the Realm of Evil, enough were weak enough that combined, their might could destroy even the most powerful realms, and few realms were willing to expose themselves by helping another realm. Thus, the five most powerful realms each chose a champion to represent them and turn the beings of the Universal Realms into a force that could repel and perhaps even defeat the Reckoning. Four of the five champions were constructed by their own realms: Darkness, Light, Unity, and the Void. Balance, however, believed that only a being from the Universal Realm could lead those who inhabited properly, and chose a young woman who was not considered important on her industrial world, but was recognized by the Realm of Balance for her sense of fairness and justice.

Unfortunately, the Realm of Balance would eventually be proven right. Although the 5 champions did well to create armies from the mightiest of the Universal Realm's people, the 4 champions created by their realms were incompatible with each other, and preferred to not only act on their own, but form cults worshiping their home realms, making their own forces incompatible with the others. The Reckoning took advantage of this, exploiting the inherent weaknesses of each realm's champion in turn. Light, then Darkness, then Unity and the Void... each was manipulated into places where their power was weakest and drained of their strength before they were killed. The Reckoning's right hand, a human converted to be Greed's most loyal servant, was dispatched to kill the Champion of Balance, who had managed to hold back the corrupted forces of the Reckoning, and even managed to purge the greed spread across million of worlds by the Realm of Evil.

The Champion of Balance attempted to remove the greed from the right hand of Evil, only to discover that the human had no greed, only devotion and loyalty. She was overpowered by him and slain, thus ending the resistance against Greed, and allowing the Reckoning to resume spreading its tendrils across the Universal Realm.
